How Instant Cold Packs Work

Instant cold packs, like the HypaCool Instant Cold Pack, work through a simple chemical reaction which absorbs heat, making the pack feel instantly cold.
There are two substances in the cold pack that are kept separate, usually water and a chemical such as urea or ammonium nitrate. Once the pack is squeezed, it breaks the inner pouch containing the chemical, allowing the pair to mix together.
When the chemical dissolves in the water, it triggers an endothermic reaction pulling heat from the pack and surrounding area, making the pack temperature drop quickly.

How to Use:

Step 1: Activate the pack by squeezing it and gently shaking it to mix the contents.
Step 2: Place the pack on the injured area. Take care not to apply the cold pack directly to your skin; always use a protective barrier like a therapy cover or compression cuff to prevent frostbite.
Step 3: After use, simply dispose of the cold pack with your ordinary household waste.
