  My skin is prone to serious skin tears from the most minor knock which can then require treatment for several weeks. I wear knee length protective socks but they do not prevent bruises. I wear the hockey shin pads when I play croquet. They are so comfortable I can forget I'm wearing them. I now play croquet with full confidence that I will avoid leg injuries. The main problem in croquet is not being hit by a ball but by inadvertently hitting oneself with a mallet which has sharp edges. I would recommend them to anyone with fragile skin particularly the elderly just for daily protection as well as playing sport.
