Silence is highly recommended

Great whistle, beautiful item with very handy lid , easy to keep in pocket and our dog got to grips with it really quick. Would recommend in urban areas for quietness or if you just need a long distance command for your dog to return. Dogs give you a funny look first time you use it but soon get the hang of it. Doesn’t seem to bother them if they know it’s not for them either which was reassuring. We can call one back with the whistle while one next to us carries on snoozing.

Acme silent whistle

I bought 3 of these in the same order. 2 are fine, but the other one is simply harder to get a sound out of. Same pitch, just more difficult to achieve the same volume. Don't know why or how to fix it. Pity, as I have always used these as a professional Gundog trainer and recommend them to my clients,. Never had a problem before, perhaps I was just unlucky.

Quality at a Very Good Price

Having read quite a lot of reviews about various makes of Silent Dog Whistles i decided on the [reassuringly expensive?]Acme 535 Silent Dog Whistle. Other generic makes had truly appalling reviews from average to abysmal! The maxim "you get what you pay for" isn't always true but in this case it certainly is. The Acme Whistle is by far the most expensive make on the market but the build quality speaks for itself. i don't see the point in paying a fiver for something that falls apart after a few days when you can buy quality that lasts a life time: its a no brainer and simply false economy. If you want a brand leader, quality Dog Whistle [silent] then the Acme 535 is the way to go and Newitts are without doubt, at the time of writing, the best price in the UK. NB. Though effectively 'silent' the whistle does emit a low note to help you to hear your command and signal duration. Very handy!
