Euro 2016 Finals Stadium Guide

10th June 2016, The UEFA European Championships kicks off in Paris. With it been a stone throw away in France it’s definitely something to pencil in for your summer 2016 plans. We have put together a stadium guide to help you decide which location will best suit you. We have also included what games are going to be played, and whatever your choice our guide will hopefully help you on a summer to remember.

Overall there are 51 matches played by 24 teams at 10 different stadiums located all over France competing to win the 15th European Championship.

 

1. The Stade De France - PARIS

The Stade de France is the French National Stadium and is situated in the North of Paris. The stadium is all seated and is the 6th largest stadium in Europe. It is used by both the National Rugby and Football teams.

2. Stade Velodrome - MARSEILLE

Stade Velodrome is the home to the Olympique De Marseille football team and has been a venue to both the 1998 Football World Cup and 2007 Rugby World Cup. It is also the largest domestic football ground in France.

The Stade des Lumieres is located in Lyon however this stadium is not complete right now it’s under construction which started in 2012  and should be completed by 2015/2016 costing roughly 350-450 million.

4. Stade Pierre Mauroy - LILLE


The Stade Pierre Mauroy is a multi-use stadium in Lille that opened on the 12th August 2012 it is located in the hotel de Ville quarter of Villeneuve d'Ascq and is the new home of LOSC Lille Metropole.

5. Parc des Princes - PARIS


Parc des Princes which literally means park of the princess in English is an all seated football stadium which is located in the South West of Paris. The stadium is home of the French football club Paris Saint-Germain since 1973.

7. Stade Geoffroy-Guichard - SAINT ETIENNE


The Stade Geoffroy - Guichard is home for the Saint - Etienne Football Club. It has previously hosted matches in the 1984 UEFA European Championship, 1998 Football World Cup and 2007 Rugby World Cup. The stadium has been nicknamed the cauldron or the green hell.

The Allianz Riviera is home of the OGC Nice Football Club that play their football in the Ligue 1 the French top football league. The Allianz Riviera replaced the former stadium Stade Municipal du Ray in 2013.

The Stadium de Toulouse also know as Stadium Municipal is the 7th largest stadium in France. Currently it is home for the Toulouse Football Club however it is also used for big games for Toulouse Rugby Club in the Heineken Cup or Top 14.
